3d Mark 2001 about 9000? according to what I have seen it should be at around 11,000. What gives?

Wow, if thats not a vague question I don't know what is. Here is another one for you. "my car is making a funny noise. Whats wrong?"

Besides, this belongs somewhere else. (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=24)

In the display control panel make sure vsync, antialiasing and anisotropic filterign are all set as disabled before benchmarking.

Moved to benchmarking

I didn't double post. Mods don't like flaming either.

Why would a question about benchmark scores belong somewhere else?

:t

Oh I see this was moved before I got a look.........OOps.:x

I didn't double post.

If you didn't then sorry but I did see 2 identical
posts on the SysOpt main page under new threads.

Who knows, maybe it was on my end...

btw: decent rig. beats mine.

So any help with my problem? I boosted the FSB to 200 (ddr 400mhz) running at XP 3200+ speed now. Have a Geforce fx5600. Most I can get is like 9700 in 3dmark 2001SE.

Is there some kinda setting I have wrong?

AA is off. Ansi Filter is off.

What resolution are you running at, ideally this is what you should be hitting around

Are your motherboard and gfx card drivers updated to the latest possible version and vsync disabled?

Newest nvidia drivers. Mobo driver came with board but it is a nforce2 board so any driver update would probably be inconsequential. V sync is disabled (I think.... its under OPEN GL in the hardware tab right?). Refresh rate is 80hz maybe that is it. What about onboard LAN and onboard sound? could that be it?

PLEASE HELP IF I DON'T break 10K I will be VERY dissapointed!

I know those benchmark charts are just guidelines
but I can't believe how well an "old" Ti4200
performs compared to the "newer" Fx series cards.

It's been stated before but nVidia really
dropped the ball with most of these newer cards.:(

V sync is disabled (I think.... its under OPEN GL in the hardware tab right?)

It needs to be disabled for D3D as well, as 3dmark2001 is a direct 3d bencmhark not open GL. If you cant disable it from the display properties control panel download rivatuner and do it from there

The refresh rate shoulddnt have an influence when V-sync is disabled. You must also disable it under direct3d, because 3DMark uses direct3d.

You should have more points than on tomshardware, because the test there was made w/ an Athlon XP 2700+ Thouroughbred and your CPU is a Barton running at 3200+ speeds. You should have at least 12000 points.

Is your memory running in sync w/ the FSB? If not, this could be the problem. Make sure, that in the BIOS your memory clock is set at 100% of the FSB or the Memory/FSB ratio is set to 1/1.

Yeah it is..... or should I say WAS. I tried to uninstall mobo drivers and install different ones and it f'd me up good. I had to reformat and reinstall. I believe memory is running 1:1 but I will check that tonight. Any other ideas?

KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS A FX5600 not A 5600ULTRA!!

I still think I should be able to break 10K though.

This doesnt depend on the driver, it depends only on the BIOS.

Huh? You are saying that my chipset drivers (if out of date) would have no effect on my 3dmark score?

Your post doesn't make sense.....

I meant, that your chipset drivers have no effect on your memory/FSB ratio. I dont know, how big the effect on benchmark scores is, but I dont think, that it would be more than 200-300 points. Also the newest driver are not always the best.

OK that is more understandable. I know the memory settings are in my bios. I didn't change the settings and I assume the default is set to 1:1 ratio.....

These settings are correct: it is 1:1, because 400MHz DDR memory is running at a phsical clock frequency of 200MHz, only the effective clock frequency is 400MHz. This achieved by using the rising and the falling edges of the clock signal.

is that normal score or what? my cousin's P4 3.2 800mzh, 1GB dd-r, 9800Pro 128mb, score 15,000 in 3Dmark2001.
