Simply then delete the key. I assume you know that any time you delete keys from the registry could could cause a problem. Make sure you delete only the file that the error displays IRED 08-30-1999, 04:04 PM Run-msconfig-goto config.syst tab and uncheck all the boxs do the same for Autoexec.bat Glytzhkof 08-30-1999, 04:10 PM This could also be caused by entries in the win.ini file. As IRED says run msconfig (Select Start => Run => "msconfig"), and hunt down the files that cause problems. SoopaStar 08-30-1999, 04:24 PM Well, the first thing you want to do is not delete programs from the computer. That is why most applications come with an uninstall feature or you can use the Add/Remove programs from the control panel. Deleting the files (obviously you know this now) only physically removes the file from your computer, but does not entirely remove the program from your computer wanting to use it. What also can happen when just deleting directories on your PC: not all files for programs are loaded into that directory. Some are in the Windows and Windows/system directory. Those files will still be called by the system.ini or win.ini or the registry when windows starts. If you are having multiple errors, then I would really suggest picking up something like Norton Utilities and using their WinDoctor. Norton is only like $17 now (I say only because about 3 years ago it was $79) and the newest Utils 2000 just came out recently. Their windoctor does a good job of finding orphaned files and incorrect entries in your registry. This file should be on your hard drive somewhere. Run it and open the win.ini file. Under[windows], you should see "load=", delete the stuff that you don't have any more and don't want loaded. This should do the trick. scourge 08-31-1999, 01:00 PM run sysedit.exe. This file should be on your hard drive somewhere. Run it and open the win.ini file.
