I'm looking for a good voice recognition headset (mono or single sided only) for a Quad who has no choice but to use voice recognition for computer opperation.

Anybody have experience with good functional set that might work for him? Budget is a factor so if a good one for less than $75 is known by anyone to work and hold up to daily use please post.

Just for general info, he lost all use of everything but his neck and head when a drunk driver flipped a truck on top of him. He's got a very high IQ and is tighed to a breathing machine. He needs the headset because a boom just doesn't work when he slides over a little in the bed. I wouldn't normally recomend voice recognition but it is his only choice.

Advice from everyone on building him a new computer has been great though until now I haven't mentioned anything about what I was doing. Thanks.

Big thanks to everybody. This is a great forum and you have all been well worth asking (I know little about computer stuff and work to many hours to find "extra" time.

Scary, I even get a little faith in humanity here...

There are many available from cheap to VERY expensive, check out what the software manufacturer recommends---the one that came with my version of Dragon dictation has a phony earphone and a pretty good mic attached but it dont stay on my noggin so well, I purchased a cheap Radioshack Optimus Nova 79 that cost about 15$, its stereo (they also have a mono model) and works better for me, its of "open air" design so I can still hear whats going on in the room and also doubles for PC to phone calls and casual music listening...

Oh yeah---pretty cool yer helping him out like that---good goin!!!
