Hooking up my new 9800 to my new Panansonic AE500 via DVI. set the front projector to DVI in, but no picture.
what settings do i need to do to enable the dvi out from the vid card? i read through the manual, but all I get from it is that i just attach the DVI cable...but nothing.
ideas?
thanks

Does the panasonic have more than one input
you may need to select dvi
aaah its a projector
hmmm they can be a bugger to get working - have you selected auto-image?
HDCP issue?
Is the radeon hdcp compliant?
have you also selecte the output in the control panel in windows - display setttings? for primary out?
ATI recommends a 300-Watt power supply or greater to ensure normal system operation where a number of other internal devices are installed.
i think you need to set to theatre mode?
it will most likely be a software setting in ATI control panel?
MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING A DVI-I CONNECTOR FOR MAXIMUM COMPATABILITY!

Possibly just a button on the monitor you need to press so that it looks at the DVI input and not the analog input. I just hooked up a DELL LCD on my cousins computer not to long ago using DVI and all that I had to do was change the input settings on the monitor itself.

thanks for the replys...
there are more than one input on the PJ: S-video (which I tried but the image was unreadable too blurry) component, and VGA. the card is DVI-I and the input on the PJ is DVI-D (and HDCP) so no problem there.
I did select the input via the menu on the PJ to DVI.
the PS is a 380watt (the case is an Antec Persona? )
I think its stemming from the ATI...Primary display setting...but its hard to change settings if I don't have an image!
how do you set the vid card to have it have the FPM (i'm assuming this is the setting you need, since the projector is a 1024x720 native resolution LCD ) as primary, and the VGA monitor set as secondary so I can see the changes I need to make?
theater mode on the video card?
thanks

The VGA card's BIOS should auto-detect the attached unit, and fire it up straight from poweron. However non-PC displays often do not have VGA compatible resolutions and timings, and thus stay dark until someone enables them in the OS. A workaround would be to hook it up doubly, through TV-out AND DVI, and then use the (inherently) blurry SVideo mode to boot to the operating system and configure the DVI port correctly from there.

well once you do get into your OS, when you get into your display settings, you should be able to find the settings you need right in the first part of the settings before you go into advanced. I will post more on this when i get home and can look at it on my computer. I am running dual monitors, so i should be able to help.

good news! after 4 hours of tweaking and playing around, finally got my PJ to display a 1280x720 image (on a 7 ft wide screen!)...its great! DVD movies are incredible too.
thanks to all for your help....now if i can point you to the tech questions area for my sound card issue.....
