Fellow Members:

I recently reinstalled my AMD TBird system to a different box. After shooting a few digital photos, I realized the wire situation needed serious attention. So, I put on some blue shades (as did my camera!) and took this shot, hoping to hide as many wires leading to the case as possible. And I thought it was a fun, surreal image. Though I think a daytime shot would have been much better!

When I find the time to manage my wires, I'll repost <u>au</u> <u>natural</u>!

Those are 2 120mm Panaflo fans on the left window, and one on top and one in front (recessed with a smaller grid). I have 2 80mm Panaflos in the rear exhausting hot air.
The four lights in front control the 120mm fans (hi/lo/off).

Don't sell yourself short Brangwen, thats a terrific shot. Hid wires perfectly and looks cool. Consider a job in photography?

You are <u>kind</u>!

Thanks!

PS: Night shots (artificial light) can be tough (<u>for</u> <u>me</u>) with a digital camera that I've never used before. I think I'll stick with a 35mm Nikon!

The case is an Inwin (IW-Q500N-ATX). It's roughly 24" high, 17" deep, 7.5" wide. The left side is plexi, as you can see, with 2 120mm Panaflo whisper fans attached sucking air in and blowing over my motherboard, vidcard, sound card and modem. The case uses thumbscrews (no tools required) and both sides come off fairly easily. The top grid covers another 120mm Panaflo fan to exhaust hot air out. The lower front grid covers a 120mm Panaflo to suck cool air in from the front. 2 80mm Panaflos exhaust heat from the back of the case. It has a 300W PSU: one fan below and one fan above.

The baybus controls the speed of the fans (4 lights in front: hi/lo/off). I have a baycooler (2 fans) in a front bay to cool my drives. One bay has 2 LCD temp readouts.

The motherboard is an Iwill KK266 with a 1.33Ghz TBird oc'ed to 1.54Ghz, 512 MB PC133 SDRAM, a G450 Matrox 32MB DDR dual head vidcard for 17" and 19" monitors; SBLive Value, and a 56K modem. I have a 30GB ATA100 IBM HDD, Plextor 16/10/40 CDRW, Creative 52X CD Drive.

HS is 3-clasp Taisol with copper insert. I removed the Sunon fan and installed fan from FOP32.

The fans remain at low and my CPU averages 83F, System temp high 60s. Under gaming load, i.e., heavy vidcard usage, my CPU tops out at 109F. I recall system temp was 70F or below. If room temp is warm, I switch fans to high speed. The case is <u>incredibly</u> quiet, and because it's on wheels (casters) I can simply push it under my desk or to the side. I'm very happy with this box, and at night listening to tunes and surfing SysOpt is nice as the neon light (kind of violet) lights my cards up pretty well.

Glad you likle it.

I am hip to your evil( http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) ways. I have accepted you peer pressure, and I am very close to ordering my own case (maybe no color... but I have not decided yet). My question for you... Could you please post the dimensions of the case, mainly height and depth. I want to make sure that it will fit under my desk... also how much height do the casters add?

Thanks,
Banti

Banti:

The dimensions are as follows:

- H: Top to bottom <u>with</u> <u>casters</u>: 26.5" (<u>w/o</u> <u>casters</u>: subtract 3")

- W: 7 7/8" for box (two case stands with casters are 12.5" wide)

- D: 17 7/8"

Socalgal and Raven Stands Alone:

Thank you! I did take some "daytime shots" of this box yesterday with the digital, but justice is not done to the color. I do think I need my 35mm, which is in the shop getting cleaned and tuned. Also, the wire harness from the power supply was bunched smack right in the middle of the plexi-window and looked embarrassingly messy!

But again, thx! A compliment from Socal <u>grabbed</u> my attention!

Gauge:

I had the box modded by a company in TX. If I could have managed it (time, et cetera), I would have done it myself. I just told the mod outfit (Computers Devine) what I wanted.

PS: <u>Small World</u>: As a kid in the mid-to-late sixties I played league baseball (little league through county league) in several areas including Burtonsville. I remember playing left field and pegging a guy at the plate who was trying to score from first on a double at the Burtonsville field! That was a while ago, but my memory is clear as crystal! I grew up in the Colesville / Silver Spring area of Maryland. E-Mail me if you want / need more specific info on the case mods.

PSII: I'll post a side shot in a few days <u>after</u> I get a decent camera in my hands.

that case looks great. I have a case very similiar but i have not cut the side out yet. What did you use to make that cut. I'm cutting circles in mine and put plexy glassinside with a black light. The frame inside is painted flat white so it will glow. I'll take a photo whem im finished. look great...
