Hi!!
I thought of buying some RAM for my computer and I came across two kinds of RDRAM. One of them was said to be ECC and the other was Non-ECC. What is the difference between the two and which one is better? I'd appreciate any feedback on the issue.
Thanx in advance to you all.

Aren't ECC chips normally 60ns? I've seen DIMMs with the 60ns chips on them, just like EDO RAM has. But it's on a DIMM. Strange.

ECC is error correcting and generally used in servers for that reason. However the error correction takes time and the RAM runs slower then non-ECC RAM.

Anybody got an idea on that?

not necessarly, you will however find that most ECC ram is also Registered. You can spot ECC ram by the odd number of ships on the module

Agreed, ECC is supposed to be slightly slower than non-ECC (non-parity) but I doubt that the difference would be noticeable.

What is the difference between ECC and non-parity memory? (http://support.crucial.com/scripts/crucial.exe/solution?11=000724-0004&130=000964451872&14=&2715=&15=&2716=&57=search&58=&2900=&25=6&3=ecc)
