New build of Deluxe revision 2.0 board with Barton 2500+
bios 1006
Seagate barracuda 120gb
450w power supply
Hercules Radeon 9500 pro
single stick of 512mb 3200 ram
Win XP professional

Every now and then for no apparent reason the computer takes it upon itself to reboot. Message boot up whilst posting is no keyboard present (wireless logitech) and sometimes bios checksum error. changing to a PS2 keyboard and rebooting allows me to hit Del and get into the bios to set the FSB correctly. Saving these settings allows me to boot and all is well with the world again until......ping it does it again. Is this a known problem and will my bios suddenly become unrecoverable??

any thoughts?

i had a similiar problem with my MSI motherboard; everytime i rebooted the comp i would get a checksum error, turns out the batt was dead. i replaced it and PRESTO works like a charm.

Ouch...so you'll may have to call Asus Tech Support...Good boards, bad support.

As mentioned, try clearing CMOS.

Then...in BIOS, enable legacy USB support. I use a logitech wireless KYB & Mouse combo...once the light flashes on the receiver while booting, I can hit the del key to enter BIOS.

Legacy USB support allows support for it while booting (ok..in theory, anyways...:D

You may...just have a bad board, though. BIOS Checksum is not a good thing...
