When ever I click on the speaker options for 5.1 surround sound and go back in it will not be there.
I have Hercules Xp 5.1 Theater sound system.
What do I have to do to get my system to recognize the sound choice?

Right click on the my computer icon. Then, when you see four tabs near the top of the window that pops up, go to the one labeled 'device manager.' All the hardware on your comp will be listed. Go to "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers."
See if your hercules is listed there... whether it is or not greatly determines a course of action from here and whether or not I'm able to help.

Tried that, did not work. Also the sound check out of the theater program works perfectly, however the sound coming from the dvd is only 3 of the speakers and not 5 like the theater?

Check the companies site, see if you have the latest driver for your card... and also, you did check the dvd playback properties to make sure you have dolby 5.1 and not dolby 2 selected, right?

I did download latest drivers, no luck there. also I did make sure of mode 5.1
It just keeps going back to desktop speakers if I reboot.

Remove it from the properties, reboot, and reinstall thine drivers.
