A friend has told me that a new DDR chipset will be comming out in a few months or so that will take better advantage of DDR ram (unlike the current one that only give a 10% increase). Does anybody know or have heard anything about this?

When I last looked at this, the word was that if BIOS fixes couldn't take care of the Via KT266 disappointment, there would be a "suffix B" or the like. To find out more, look around for <u>recent</u> reviews of DDR motherboards using the Via.

There's a review (http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/01q3/010711/index.html) at Tom's Hardware that answers some of your questions.

I think that you're talking about the new sis chipset. The world sure has come full circle hasn't it? Now sis makes the fastest chipset? http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/01q2/010611/index.html

EDIT: Or mabye you were thinking about nForce by nVidia, but they're so darn expensive:
