I was just curious because I am having a problem with a friends computer. When I try to access the CD Rom it says that it is not accessable http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I've checked all the connections and reinstalled/updated the drivers. In the device manager, it says that it is working properly.

It is a Delta Cd Rom Model # CD5000A

The computer is an Emachines 433i

He had this problem once before and I got it working somehow, or it just decided to work on it's own. Anyway, it's on the blink again.

Please help

Hi,
Try loosen the four screws holding it up and see what happens.

What was the issue with the heat ? Is it a problem now with reading ALL the discs, or just some types, as CD-R ? Anyway, tried cleaning it up with lens cleaner ?

Best Regards ...

The heat idea came about because it was so darn hot in his room, and didn't know if CD Roms could be affected from too much heat.

Just a thought.

Windows recognizes that there is a CD Rom there. When I right click on the drive and select properties I get 0's under free space AND capacity with a CD in the drive
