Hello.
I was **thinking** (Yeah, Curt, if you're reading this, emphasize **thinking** http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif) about trading in our current computer for a new one, and I was wondering if you could tell me how much you think the average price that would be paid for a system like this (it's in like-new condition).
Pentium III Coppermine 800EB
AOpen AX34 (Almost never crashes)
AOpen DVD-ROM (16X)
PlexWriter 8/4/32A
Maxtor 30GB HD
nVIDIA GeForce 256 w/ 32MB (60-160FPS in games, depending on network conditions)
LinkSys 10/100 EtherFast Network Card
3COM Gaming Modem (very very fast pings, and it is not a WinModem)
SoundBlaster Live! Value
17" .23 DPI Monitor (up to 2xxxXxxx (not sure) resolution)
Altec Lansing ACS33 Speakers
Microsoft Internet Keyboard
Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical
Thanks!
Edit: This system has 512MB PC133 RAM... If I sold it it might only have 256 (I would probably take the new 256MB out..)

if it's used but in like new condition you should see $800.00 to $1200.00 on the open market
I'd say about $600 - $800 or so. I have a similarly equipped T-bird 800 that I would ask about $650 for.

Yeah, basically, it's just as when I got it, besides one little scratch on the case (like 1/2" tall and barely noticeable).
Wow... 800 - 1200 and I could get a new DELL Pentium 4 1.4GHz

or you could get a better athlon system that would beat up the P4.

Also, if you're fairly good at computers, you might want to consider buying new parts for a PC and taking what you can from your old one.
Good keepers are:
DVD Drive
HD Drive (unless you want a bigger one or a 7200rpm one)
SBlive
KB/Mouse
Monitor
CD Burner (unless you want a faster one)
Modem
Network Card
Basically all you'd have to change is the mobo/cpu/video. Depending on your current case and power supply you might need to pick up a new one of those too. Also, depending on now much RAM and what speed it is (Didn't mention it) you could keep that too or take it along and buy a little extra. Then you can sell the old (p3 800 *old* http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) parts that you didn't use.

First off...how come you want to get rid of it already? If you are really looking at selling it let me know...i would consider buying a second computer. What do mom and dad think about this bud? I am sure they aren't too keen on the idea! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I have a question... If I were going to buy this PC from you for $1200 and you were going to add $39 to it and get a new one, why wouldn't I just add $39 and get a new one for myself? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Sorry, somebody messed in my cornflakes this morning! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Because he is my little bro...and this will ensure that he gets what it is worth. That way him and my parents don't get ripped off and he can still get the computer that he wants...that is why. It does sound kinda dumb, but I wouldn't go spend the $1200 on a new computer...I would buy it from them though to help them. Hopefully this explains things a bit.

Jeez "dyer_maker"... you think we would get ripped off? ;-)
How much would you pay for it, just curious.
dyer_maker: Thanks, but you don't have to do that. If I can't get a decent deal on it, it is fine for now (my system).
dyer_maker: Hey Curt! Now I know your name http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
We were just *looking* at the *possibility*.
If we could sell it for the $1200, a new Dell Pentium 4 1.3 GHz is only 1,239 (so, in affect, it is only $39, which is a pretty good deal) and it would be even less if I built it (I think... hrrrm)
Just thinking about it.

Cody:
Let me know if you are gonna get rid of it. If you get a better deal with trading it in then go that route...but I wouldn't mind purchasing it from you.....if I can come up with the money. I will talk to you tonite.

I could get a new DELL
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
theres not much wrong with this machine at all, why trade it in?
If you want better gaming performance then get a Geforce2 GTS and a new Pentium3 (or for some REAL fun, get a decent heatsink, slap it on the p3 and try your hand at overclocking)
After today, LemonHead, I wouldn't get a Dell. A local colledge had 4 Pentium 4 1.5GHz Dell's, and they could barely run Microsoft Flight Simulator (they were decked out with SBLive! Platinums and GeForce 3's too!). The image refreshed about every five seconds. I used this on a friend's Celeron 566 (No name brand thing) and it ran fine... smoothest video you could have seen.
How much would all that you mentioned cost?
BTW: My BIOS allows (with the multiplier settings and speed) to setup my PIII Coppermine 800EB up to 1.2GHz. What cooling (not too expensive) would I need to safely do this?
