I had a clearance problem on my KK266 (basically the exact same setup). I followed the directions ona web site I found at www.amdmb.com (http://www.amdmb.com) . What it said was to cover the capacitors with a tape, so the fins of the SOrb do not hurt it. As for the fan, since it is aluminum, it is easily filed down. i filed mine where it would touch and there is plenty of clearance. I did not have an actual file, so I used the grip of a socket wrench, which made a agreat amek-shift file.

Good luck
Dave

I used a Dremel to trim the one I had---remove the fans first to prevent polluting them, or ive seen where people have just spread the offending fins wider apart where each cap was...

Please..please do not use any of the ORB type sinks. 1) their time is past. They will not cool the newer cpu's that generate higher heat levels. 2) ORBs have killed more AMD processors than any other one thing.

Unless you have money to burn, and don't mind blowing several hundred bucks on new processors, stay as far away from all of the Orbs as possible...they only 'look cool', according to one reviewer.

Thanks for the help. One of the so called tech-support guys told me he has never had to do any modification to make the Orb fan fit. I'm pissed because they are the ones who reccomended the Orb when I ordered the KT7A and Athlon 850 from them. They won't replace my damaged CPU. I'll wait a couple weeks and see if the price drops and get another CPU and "approved" fan. Needless to say, I won't be getting it from www.axiontech.com. (http://www.axiontech.com.) I have read enough forums talking about the Orb needing to be modified. The I know the guy was lying thru his teeth when he said he has never had to modify the Orb. Well, there I feel better now.

Has anybody had a problem installing a SuperOrb HSF on an Abit KT7A? There seems to be a clearance problem with the capacitors being so close.
