Modem not available

I have a Diamond SupraMax 56i Voice PCI modem installed in my Win-98se system. The modem shows up in Control Panel Modems and under Device Manager in Systems. The Modem shares an IRQ-9 with VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller.

While attempting to install the Fax/Talk software which is on installation CD, the software will not recognice that the Modem is present.

I tried using Windows Dialer and it informed me that I did not have a Modem present.

Any

Go into device manager and remove the modem.
Remove all com ports in device manager.
Shutdown.
Remove the modem from the computer.
Boot to safemode.
Go to device manager and see if there are any modems in there, If so remove them also.
Leave any com ports that have been reinstalled
Shutdown.
Boot again & double check Device Manager.
Shutdown.
Install modem into the computer.
Normal boot.
Install driver when prompted ! !
