cant log into Hotmail/hsbc

DELL Laptop
W2K PRO
IE5.5 encrytion =56bit
connect to the internet via company LAN via proxy
I can access practically all sites but when i try to log into my mail account i cant connect
I can get thru' to www.hotmail.com (http://www.hotmail.com)
I cant log into my banks online sign on page as well
any clues?
I have ssl,tcp and tsl all ticked

may not be related to the problem but first upgrade your encryption to 128 via windows update. See if anyone in your office can hit the site(s). try to ping www.hotmail.com. (http://www.hotmail.com.) All fails, ask your network administrators about being blocked from certain internet sites.

everybody @ work can access hotmail.
i had the Administrator remove all blocks from my profile...he tested xxx sites and can connect using my laptop

Do you use any sort of Ad Filtering Software. I use AdSubtract and I have to turn it off to access the Hotmail Site. Each time I did this I was also careful to dump my Cookies as soon as I had seen what I wanted. I now have Outlook configured to check it and this seems a lot easier. Do you use Outlook at all?

Just found out that when I get to the login page it has changed from "HTTP" to "HTTPS"

problem solved I was told to change the secure proxy setting to 8443
