I meant for it to be "Vague", so that the topic would be wide open from any aspect. There is alot of imagination that comes form some of the members here and they may have found a use for Administrative Tools that no one else has thought of. And when I get time I will sit down and read the Book on the etiquette of Thread Starting.:t fishybawb 10-09-2003, 09:48 AM My most interesting use is to ignore it all together ;) If I want to get into Services, running services.msc does the job. Someone Stupid 10-12-2003, 12:36 AM It can function, just can't do much. dajogejr 10-12-2003, 04:33 PM bad Dog...do you mean on a local PC...or as a network admin on a domain? Baddog 10-13-2003, 09:01 AM Local or networked......if you have a special trick or tip that you would like to share that has benefited you or made a task easier. dajogejr 10-13-2003, 09:31 AM Originally posted by TechGuru Dang I don't even goin to admin tools on my server, however, I have about 30 MMC's that i have to filter through to get the right console for what I am trying to do 1. Local Users and Groups 2. Services 3. Networking (DHCP, DNS, WINS) 4. Event Viewer 5. Device Manager just to name a few of my favorite MMC's Yep...good snap ins for the MMC, will allow local or a networked PC to be viewed. My favorite is the Active Directory Users and Computers. This is where all users, groups, printers, computers...etc., are set up and defined....within a domain. So...one step further than 1. on his list. Oh, local groups and users is nice if you want to allow a certain user admin rights on his/her PC only, but don't want to give them domain admin rights... If you use the Services Snap in, you can log onto a remote PC...and start services like PC Anywhere host, instead of making a call or walking there for a "hands on" start. Can be very helpful...
