I am only 14, but I am sure I want to go into comuputers when I grow up. I already have experience, I have been playing games since 3 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. I have also installed many upgrades on my computer and such, but where can I go to learn more? Thanks!

Moogs2K1:

Do you want short term (2 years) or serious longer term (4+ years)? If short, check out catalogues from IT programs. Ask graduates about quality of job placement, etc. Speak to many guidance counselors in your school. If you're in for the long run, I'd start preparing to get into a quality undergrad 4-year college with a great computer science reputation, then likely graduate work. Set your sites high: CalTech, MIT, etc. Start by getting the grades, reading all you can, taking the most challenging courses in: science, math, English (writing skills). Get a good well rounded education. Perhaps hang around or "apprentice" (be a go-for) for an electronics business. Now is the time to focus and get serious. Learn computer code like C+ (or one of its derivitives) and work hard. You will not regret the hours you put in while you're young.

"Good luck to you!"

Well, honestly, you can learn a heck of a lot here by reading posts and following links int he many posts. There is no real sure-fire site that gives all info. I would start out reading dailies and then find sites as you go along. It will paint a broad and current picture of what is available and then you can choose what to focus on.
