Hi people,

Just after some ideas on broadband providers in the UK. I’m looking for a provider that will be able to give me a 1 mg connection of good quality for under £40 including VAT with a no fixed term contract. This might sound like a bonehead question. But keep in mind that I have only ever had one broadband connection before and that was with NTL and it was, well, about as funny as a salt spreader in a burns unit, and but I was stuck for 12 months at £45 per month. And well I don’t want make the same mistake again.

Many thanks.

If you get cable telly offa NTL you can get the 1mbit line thrown in for about 25quid a month i think it is, which isnt bad. Personally ive used NTL BB for about a year now and like it, admittedly once a week theres bound to be a problem but i preffer Cable over ADSL which AOL/BT offer

BT are the best...

12 month contracts aren't too bad so long as the company is decent! YOu could have probably got out off the NTL one by telling them how **** it was and how it didn't match the TOS

I'm NTL, 35 squiddlies, 1 meg and rock solid. And two prety hard drives and a small fortune on cdr's for me home made movies and jam sessions. Done a brilliant 43kb midi of "the day before you came".

I would agree with the above and NTL, if your in a cabled area they are good, been on BB for 3 years now, only 1 or 2 minor problems

Congratulations! Your number has passed the initial ADSL tests. Your exchange has the necessary broadband equipment to support all our products including home user, power user and business user. Please note even though this has been accepted there is still only a 90% success rate as a decibel reading must now be taken. Please select whether you are a Home user, a Power user or Business user below.

I and my moany mate have had freedom2surf for over a year now, we both signed up the same time, and pleased to say, he's got nothing to moan about, never had any problems, no breakdowns, nothing, and 1month contract, @ £22.50 per month, we are well pleased.
