What are you opinions on this card? Not top of the line, but its gettin up there. PS mainly used for gaming and 3d modelling (high poly).

Gonna stick in a 2.8ghz P4 800mhz FSB HT
2X 512mb Pc3200 DDR

With the new 50.XX detnoator's, I think it's safe to reccomend a 5600 Ultra. Really, either the 9600Pro or the 5600 Ultra would be a good card for you. :t

yup the fx 5600 ultra is a fine card, but unfortunately having some issues on performance over quality due to it's recent drivers.

I have it and like it. Yes, the 9600 is faster and gives you a better price/pre ratio. I had bought a 9600 but had a bad exp so I went back to the Nvidia camp.

Question would be what are you using now ?

I had thought about getting one but the performance jump for me from a Ti 4600 8x just doesn't justify going for any of the FX series.

I mean I can play UT2003 online or off and it's moving along with no probs as is, so whats the point.

Right now that system is not running, still lacking RAM and the GPU....

RIght now im playing on a P4 1.8ghz 394MB RAM, intel graphics....SO i assume the 5600 will whoop my current systems ****!

Actually it would open a can of whoopass on onboard graphics for sure bro.

But I'd head the 9600pro route or actually I have seen the 9700pro's going for $239 at the local comp fair I go to this weekend.

Yeah, a 5600 would beat an onboard GPU by a pretty LARGE margin. :p That couputer is decent for gaming, better than my 1.2 ghz celeron (well, maybe your onboard graphics card isn't ;) ).

yeah, i think ill go the 5600 FX route.... thanks for your input.... as long as i dont have to play halo in 640X480 with no effects turned on and still get a bad framerate in large areas....
