Contrary to popular opinion, some people have reported that the SE is moddable to a Pro, but it's rare (ie. they're probably lying). Try Jakk's sticky posted towards the top of this forum, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

It's not a Sapphire. If the memory chips are not Samsung, you're Sam sunk! :x

I think it worth to try.
You'll be able to flash it back if the firmware you want to flash will work corrupt on your card. Just get your PCI card ready, and "PCI device first" turned on in BIOS :)

If its got inline memory it can't be flashed

Here's a site http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/download.php

Hey Kurylo, I haven't seen you post in a while. :)

The failure rate of modding is high, none the less it is reversable. Just make sure you have an extra PCI video card and the "proper" BIOS of you 9800SE handy. :t

A hi-tech study (Telecommunication Means & Technologies - sorry if I wrote badly) in my university leaves small time to chat. But it's SO interesting .

Theoretically, wrong BIOS cannot damage your card, so reflashing it back will revert it to the starting state (if failure will occur). Just store your old BIOS.

I just hope that the card will work when i flash the new bios on:rolleyes:
I have done it a 100 times on a 9100 but it didin't crash or smth...
And another thing.... My friend tried to flash the r9100bios and failed :S and now when the PCI videocard is in it DOES NOT RECONIZE the AGP card anymore :SSSSSSS
So if both cards were in we couldnt flash it cuz in dos it didn't reconize the 9100 :S WHY?

The flash program didn't recognize or your computer?

Chances are it wont work and that if it does you'll have visual errors (thats the reason the SE had 4 instead of 8 pipelines or sumink, the other four arent properly functioning). By all means give it a try but be sure to backup the original BIOS first and dont come running if it goes breasts up, as it may well do

Well the program did not say that there was a device 1 in the computer though it was:rolleyes:
pci 1mb ati was 0 but no 1 was found.

Hmm... Interesting... But don't you think that your friend could physically damage your card (I don't speak about flashing now)?

nop cuz it worked fine before the flash... the flash told an error and then it all faked ap

Bad news :(
That is a first time I hear about flashing causing damage.

I haven't seen a 9800np turned into a 9800PRO (excluding Sapphire) so I can't imagine the SE working. I'm glad its not my card, but good luck. Let us know how it works out.

Here's a survey that was done about that at that ocfaq.com site that Benssax posted.

P.S. Here's a very interesting link on the moddable cards, including the 9800SE and the 9800SE AIW: http://www.softmod.com/faq.php?vo=2

Interesting, but when only nine people have voted i would still remain cautious as to modding an SE

P.S your link was knackered so i edited it ;)

How can i change it to just 9800?

Bigjakkstaffa

My guess would be flashing with a 9800 BIOS, but thats just a guess and chances are if you cant get ti going at 9800 Pro it wotn go for 9800 as you are essentially doing the same thing (unlocking 4 pipelines) except for raising the clock level so high
