Well,

I've decided to just go ahead and do it, folks! Here is what is in the mail as I write this:

1ghz Athlon w/ 266mhz FSB and approved AMD heatsink/fan

Asus A7v133 mobo (the new VIA 133A. Check the Anandtech review on this baby)

Asus V7700 32m DDR gpu

Enlight meduim tower w/ approved AMD ps

Sony CD Rom 52X

Western Digital 30 GIG HD (7200 rpm)

Sound Blaster Live! Value

Kingston Ram: 256 PC133

WIN ME OS (OEM)

All of the above for ~$700.

After reading all of these posts and hearing about all of the projects, I decided to throw caution to the wind and build one myself. I'm sure I'll have some questions. Meanwhile, I'll wait with anticipation for the components!

r.

Good luck, Rowan. Fine selection of components. Don't skinmp on box ventilation, i.e., good fans and airflow. I'm certain you know those birds can run hot! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
