I have just got my brand new notebook PC. Here are the specs:

Mobile Pentium 4 2.8Ghz
512Mb DDR RAM
ATI 64Mb Radeon Mobility 9600

My problem is that I only get a score of 8562. I know notebooks aren't the best gaming systems in town but this is a powerful system with a decent GPU. I was expecting at least 9500. Was I just being too optimistic or should it be better?

I know that newer drivers can improve performance so I went to ATI's website but they only redirect you to your manufacturers website for notebook drivers and my manufacturer (Multivision) doesn't have any updates on their site. Does this mean there are none or will this not makea difference anyway?

Thanks,

Are you running that with standard graphics settings? People tend to disable VSync and anti-aliasing when benchmarking to give the best scores, so try that. I'm an nVidia user currently, so I'm not sure where to find the options to do that :t

Settings to performance and Vsync off as Fishybawb mentioned, but i dont think thats too bad a score at all for a notebook

I'll give that a go then. How come it's so low though? You said 'for a notebook' but it is only achieving what my desktop used to get (Athlon 1700+, 512Mb RAM, GeForce4 Ti4200). Perhaps the good 'ol GeForce4 series isn't such a bad card afterall...

Well note books arent really built with gaming and high speed performance in mind in my experience, also bear in mind that if that is a 9600np the ti4200 will prollies be faster than it
