Hello,
I'm contemplating buying a USB thumb drive
so I can move larger amounts of data between PC's.
Both PC's have the USB port at the back of the case and in one instance, you have to pull the case halfway out to put anything
in the USB port.
This would be a good argument for newer cases
to have the USB and NIC connector in the front.
(They probably do already).
Back to my problem would a USB cable say about 12 to 18 inches long that would allow
one to insert the drive at the end of the cable without banging your head trying to properly orient the connector at the back of the case make sense ?
Or would there be an appreciable loss of
data transfer rate or no data transfer because of this cable?
Would appreciate any comments or feedback.
Thanks.

The ThumbDrives are cute, I like em too.

However, a CF or Smartmedia Cardreader is just as quick, cheaper and can have a dual purpose.
If/When you get a digital camera, it will read your card, provided they're the same media type.

Here's a link to a $33(shipped) dual media card reader

32mb cards can be had for cheap here too

I have a Sandisk Compact Flash reader for my camera, and a friend of mine and I use it (along with his) to pass files back and forth all the time. The transfer speed of these readers is pretty fast too, I can empty my 64Mb card in about 5 seconds.

Oh yeah! You can plug it into the rear USB port on your puter and use double stick tape to attach it to the top front of your tower, very handy http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks Richard, that's something I didn't consider.
I'm looking at getting a digital camera,
hopefully when and if the prices get a lillte better.
Cheers

If that is pretty fast, I'd like to know what you call fast http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
