I am strongly considering the purchase of a Tivo, and I was wondering if anyone here actually owns one and is willing to talk about the disadvantages or problems one has with those?

Everyone says it is a hacker's dream, so I'm surprised that no SysOpt members own one.

Or are you guys waiting for Microsoft's X-Box to do your TV recordings for you?

Seems as if my AllinWonder card does the same thing---recent 60g WD hdd for 93$ makes it all the better, TV out, totally programmable and connected to my 200 channel cable system---I basically use it like the old VCR, for timeshifting...

I have a box with an ATI All-in-Wonder hooked up to the TV in my bedroom, and a box with a Matrox G-450 eTV in the den. Works fine for my needs, plus I have the systems on my LAN for web surfing, multimedia streaming, etc. Much more interactive than Tivo, atleast from my perspective.

I own the original ATI All in Wonder 4MB PCI card. I would use it the way you guys do, but as the system resources goes down, the computer's clock seems to not keep pace with actual time.

And my bigger complaint about the card is that I cannot seem to get any cable channels on it at all (I can only get local channels on it from the cable connection).
