Hi I was just wondering, when I am on the internet the quicktime symbol pops up then the picture appears. It never did this before. It does not happen in all the sites for some reason just some. Just wondering if there is a better viewer maybe a little faster. I'm on a cable modem so I don't think that is the problem. thanks for the help

if you mean jpegs, bitmaps, etc. then this is a free excellent program:

if its only quick time files, then you need to use quicktime i believe which is usually kinda slow.

QuickTime is pretty lame software. Even when you associate it with no files, disable everything (just want to use for viewing .qt files) it pops up when opening mpeg streams etc.. Get rid of it, and go acdsee =)

the one im talking about is strictly a picture viewer/editor.

I commonly use Microsoft Photo Editor for simple image viewing within Windows. Simple interface and quick loading. Otherwise, I use Paint Shop Pro or MGI PhotoSuite for most of my graphics work.
As for video, I actually use QuickTime Pro for most video playback. Again, simple interface with great features. Any rate, it is definitely better than WMP v7.

I think WMP V.7.x is too heavy. But there is one main reason I keep it installed and use it. It features such as Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, and EQ. The beat feature in my opinion is the Brightness and EQ. There are times when I gte a video file where it's so dark, it's almost unviewable.
BTW - Even after you install WMP V.7.x, WMP V.6.4 still resides in the system which is another good reason you may want to give WMP V.7.x a try.

ACDSee is awesome! I'm using version 2.3, and it works great for me. I've used 3.1 a little too, and it works really well. It's a very feature-rich product. I prefer WMP 6.4 for videos too http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif and winamp for music

For video I have Windows Media Player v6.4 (I think), RealPlayer Plus and Quicktime Player. For viewing images I use SEA (http://www.photodex.com/products/dos/index.html) from Photodex (http://www.photodex.com) . It's a free DOS program that supports most graphic formats, but also plays AVI, FLI, VOC and WAV. I've been using SEA since the DOS days. For image editing I use Paint Shop Pro 7.

For image viewing I use CompuPic (http://www.photodex.com/products/compupic/) also from Photodex (http://www.photodex.com)
