yeah well like everything else in this industry it was out of date by the time you walked out of the store.:p

Look on the bright side, you could have just walked out the store with an FX5600 instead of the 9600 Pro.. then you'd have something to really ***** about. :)

I'm not worried. HL2 will run fine on my Voodoo 3 ... sigh

benchs for the XT dont make it seem like a must have. just get the 9800 pro and save a hundred.

I think 9600 is a much more economical buy for those of us on a tight budget... but anyone with the cash to blow should use the 9800 instead of XT imho for that same reason, BM's arent that impressive

Atleast the 9800s and 9600s will drop in price

Just wanted to mention:

I saw this guy post an anti-nVidia message about the fact that some of their cards take up two slots.

I just wanted to point out that you would never want to put a card in that slot anyway. Because the Mobo takes the AGP slot and the first PCI slot as one slot of input (there is a reason I just forgot it). *sigh* there are some people that just don't want to have a highly sophisticated PC.:t

Well, we'll really have to see how the 9600 XT turns out. As it turns out, I was going to spend 200 on a new graphics card sometime relatively soon, and I think it would make more sense to get Half-Life 2 with it. That is, of course, if the card is worth the extra 25 dollars above the 9600 Pro.

9600xt is supposed to surpass 9700p from what i heard. That means its definetely worth the extra 20

Precisely; we'll now see some price drops on the previous, extremely powerful, 9800/9600 series, so these are good news :)

Well i'm happy... My cousin wants to get the 9800 XT as soon as HL2 is available and starts shipping with it... Then he will give me his 9800 non pro which I will attempt to do a 9800 Pro bios flash to. :D

ATI promised that the XTs would ship with HL2. Due to the delay, I'm sure they'll ship with a coupon or something to the effect or else there will be a lot of mad people.

Sounds to me that they are just now doing the overclocking for you with them.

Looks like I will be getting a 9600 XT instead of the PRO. Like think about it. You get a better card plus Half-Life 2 for 20 dollars.
What can be better than that ?

Is the utility wich I can get from a VIVO (video in,video out) type card. If I opt to get a XT/Pro I couldn't use them.

Get a lot of utility from a VIVO type card. Wish the XT/Pro would have one. VIVO much the same as AIW, w/o the TV tuner. If I spot for the XT/Pro would just be too much to have to reinstall a card of wich I could use them.

Both AGP...AGP the only thing you get any power from anyway. 9600 is the most performing I could put into the Kt7 here since the power requirements increase incrementally with the new 9800 series cards.

From the looks of things though, the 9600 XT would be 4 times as powerful than the Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO I'm using. Even though I would have to run it in 4x without having an 8x board. (supposedly you can do this).

Not so sure I want to part with my VIVO though.
