I fdisk and thought I saved every thing I wanted on a cdrw, However my concern now is my Outlook Express Address's and mail. I saved outlook thinking they would be there now! Well I am haviing a problem fining them. I did save a bunch of other stuff, dont know if they could be hidden?

Any Ideas Oh Great Sysopt people?

Do a search for:
*.wab
and
*.dbx
on your backup disk
If you cant find these, they are most likely gone.
good luck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

In win9x the actual e-mail messages are stored in the folder: windows/application data/microsoft/outlook express/then in 'folder' file names (deleted, inbox, sent items). That is really not the path, I can not remeber the full path, but you get the idea. I do not think outlook express saves the e-mails individualy anywhere. So to back up my e-mails I just back up all the folder files I have messages in (inbox, outbox).

Could not find any of the wab or dbx files. Should these type of files be showing up for any other files?

I looked for windows address, no luck

It's probably to late now but that is exactly what floppies are still good for.
The next time you decide to do something like this it would probably be a good idea to ask someone on the forum which files to save and where to find them.

Take a look on your backup CD and see if you have outlook express on there somewhere, Just curious?

Yes outlook is on there, is there some place specific to look?

Sorry to say, but I would be willing to be that you will not find the files you are looking for on the backup CD if the only thing you backed up was Outlook. Sorry about this...at least next time you won't forget to double check that you have everything. Good Luck!

Did you just copy the outlook folder to the CD ? If so all is lost.
Did you make a hard copy?
