Well from seeing you over in the gaming forum, I will assume you want a performance card for games. Best DX9 card, 9800pro. Best deal, get a 9800 Sapphire and mod it to pro...if you can find one.

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800SE 128MB Non Pro DVI/TV 8X AGP BULK $189.00 ? nice deal, how do you mod it? through BIOS?
Im not sure if this is the card or not.

pecifications:
Chipset:ATI RADEON 9800 SE
Memory:128 MB DDR RAM
Bus: AGP 8X
New SMARTSHADER™ 2.1 technology allows users to experience complex, movie-quality effects in next-generation 3D games and applications
SMOOTHVISION™ 2.1 technology enhances image quality by removing jagged edges and bringing out fine texture detail, without compromising performance
Ports:VGA + DVI + S-Video Out

No, the SE can't be modded. They non-SEs are a little sparse on the ground now in the US apparently.

NO! You CANNOT mod with the 9800 SE. Them NP's are getting hard to find. If you want Nvidia, get the 5900 Ultra (like I am :) ). If not, get the 9800 Pro. I would make sure I get them from a trusted like Newegg or Googlegear, as many companys can mislabel the SE as a NP (which techicly it is). The mod isnt hard. Look at the sticky at the top of Video Card and Moniters. :t

looks like thats a wee bit hard to come by, so what should I get, its going to be ATI anyways so I take it, 9800PRO?

Go for pro. I got one of the last NP's at the egg. I dont think they'll be back in too soon either. Funny thing is. I ran my Sapphire 9800 NP #'s. Its really BBA. (which also makes sense as sapphire makes BBA too) Maybe thats also why they sold out so quick. Great cards. Newegg has the 9800pro for $300-350. The ddrII 256mb versionis just over $400 BUT it dont gain much speed dure to the DDRII having higher latency then DDRI. Think maybe 10-15% boost:t

Definately go 9800 pro if you have the money, but if you can find the 9800np (again note, do not buy a 'SE') from sapphire you can mod that easily.

The 9800pro is the best in just about every category.
