How do I make use of com2 for the printer? bassman 09-22-2003, 08:02 PM Get an adapter (http://www.pacificcable.com/Picture_Page.asp?DataName=A925MF) and set a high baud rate for the port. JonathanB 09-23-2003, 12:44 AM where do I set the baud rate? Billforce 09-23-2003, 03:21 AM Try installing another PRINTER PORT (LPT-2) and see if the printer is recognized. Simply install an additional printer port in device mngr. Maybe it's a software problem rather than a physical problem with the parallel port. JonathanB 09-23-2003, 03:46 AM My first hard disk has lots of apps, so I disabled in msconfig all startup items. No good. Put in a newly formatted hard disk, clean-installed 98SE but still the printer is not detected. This printer prints in another pc. How do I add LPT2? Control panel, Add Hardware? bassman 09-23-2003, 08:22 AM Originally posted by JonathanB where do I set the baud rate? Hum...I'm not on Win98 now, but go to Device Manager, search for the COM Ports, view their properties/settings and you'll find the baud rate there Billforce 09-23-2003, 01:49 PM Originally posted by JonathanB My first hard disk has lots of apps, so I disabled in msconfig all startup items. Yes! in hardware...ports....add another printer port...it will install LPT-2 Midknyte 09-23-2003, 03:03 PM That is a pretty old printer. It lacks the interface to a serial port, so that's out of the question. You can either get a new printer (which is probably a better idea) with USB or buy a parallel port card. Parallel ports are getting phased out, so your next printer probably won't use it anyways. Nathan G. 09-23-2003, 03:14 PM Is the motherboard printer port enabled in the BIOS? You may want to check into that.....maybe:) JonathanB 09-24-2003, 11:29 PM Yep, the parallel port is enabled in the bios. Tried other addresses of the parallel port in bios, same. SysOpt.com
