Not being in business, I think thats really nice. Playing a multiplayer game will make that next 6 hour flight a bit easier.

some have wi-fi in lounges and waiitng areas but it's spotty, and the inflight access is available on only a very few airlines, and on only a few routes on a pilot basis

I travel alot - it's far from perfect, and it won't be cheap when readily available I assure you

True, but everything starts this way. In 10 years I would bet Southwest has internet access.

...Ok, maybe not southwest

Are you guys seriously that addicted to AIM that you have to have it on a flight?? Have you tried making phone calls from planes .. cha-ching!!! Internet will still be there when you land, and they have other ways to keep the time while "up there"

That being said, the day it's accessible for all, cheap and reliable, I'll be all over it on my next 12 hour flight from the West Coast back to the old country ;)

Not to cross-thread here, but I see a lawsuit here..... the plane is our only salvation from work and being ringed every five minutes. Me, I'd sue to have internet service removed from planes. Please....all I ask for is my soda and pretzels.
