OK I just got MSN DSL, because Comcast Cable jacked the price on me and there is another kid in the oven so I have to save money.:( So naturally I am more worried about my internet connection.

I must be missing something here because when I plug the DSL directly into the computer I get -
DHCP
IP 192.168.1.2
Subnet 255.255.225.252
Gateway 192.168.1.1


So everything works great until I try to put the old Linksys in the fun.

LAN:
IP Address: 192.168.1.150
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP server: Enabled

WAN:
IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
0.0.0.0
0.0.0.0
DHCP Remaining Time: 1 days 0:00:00

My comp is assigned 192.168.1.10. As you can see I changed the IP of the router so it would not be the same as the default gateway, if that matters I have no clue.

I thought I knew to pull this off but I guess not. Could it be verifying by my Nics Mac address?

It came down to just changing the IP of the linksys router, both DSL router and linksys defaulted to same IPs. Also changed the value with what the router starts to assign in DHCP to the comp.

Then the big step patience/unplugging and replugging. I did not wait long enough in my panick to let my comp, DSL, and router to figure things out for them selves.

Oddly I did not have to use PPPoE.

PPPoE is for having the router keep the connection alive as opposed to you logging on.
