I got a website (Hosted by Mr Host)

& I got a domain which I configured to point to "Mr Host's" server
How does Mr Hosts server know which site to point my domain traffic to?

Ther reason I ask is, I've bought a few more domains recently & I'm wondering how to point them all to the same site..........

Nice easy terminology please.......... as you know I'm not the brightest chocolate in the box :t

With the new sites you should be able to tell the person that you registered the sites under what IP you want them to point too. They will then change this information and submit it in a way to the web. This info will spread accross the web saying domain name = ip, so eventually over a couple hours to a couple days that domain name will resolve to that IP.

These computers that do the pointing are DNS servers that resolve names to IPs.

Here is another that might help

Opps, I believe that I read the question wrong. The web domains are resolving to the proper server, but not the right web page per domain name?

errr Dunno what that meant but this is what happens

www.setiteam.com (Works)
www.boincteam.com (not working but dns settings are exactly the same)
:t

whadd do I do ? :t

My browsers can resolve the first one but not the second one. This means that there is no DNS entry out there(internet) to tell my browser where to go to. You would have to go to the people that are managing your domain names, not the people that are hosting your site, but the ones that your registered the names with.

If you just changes the DNS it might take some time to update thoughout the internet DNS tables.

The only other thing is that the server itself is not set up for the domaim name. It does not know what to do with it once the web page request reaches it.

When you say "I can adjust all my domains" do you mean on your server or with the company that you registered them with?

Depends on what OS you are using? Athough I have not a clue myself how to do it, have not configured a server in a long time.

In Hawaii we just give our ISP provider a fish and ask them to sort it out. In England perhaps a bottle of gin is in order.

If you have server space for each one of your domains, you can create a dummy page in each one that automatically jumps to you main site (You use redirection in the .htaccess file).

If you have the space only for one domain than it is up to the Host service to set you up. There is nothing you can do about it.
