OK, I want to upgrade my OS from windows 98 se to Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0. Im looking for the same features of Windows 98 SE but with the best reliability, power and compatibility with hardware, games and internet.
I am leaning towards Windows 2000.
Any suggestions ?

With the items you listed 2K is the way to go. NT4.0 has serious drawbacks in hardware and gaming support
I second what Mntsnow said... Also keep in mind that NT4 doesn't support USB.

My vote would also go for Win2k. Thats what I'm using for 2 of my 3 computers at home, the third computer is an old pentium 200 w/80MB ram that I use as my expiermental box for linux.

The only reason to go with NT4 would be if you have less than 64mb of RAM or a 133.
Anything more than that, I STRONGLY recommend Windows 2000.

I agree with all. Go Win2k. USB support, large boot partition support (whole drive instead of max of 4Gig). Not necessary to reboot for almost every system change. Plus it runs most of the recent games unlike NT4.0

WIN2K is by far the most stable environment produced by Microsoft. The only thing to be wary of is that if you have some old hardware device they may not have the drivers for it.
You should consider a dual-boot environment! Best of both worlds!
