OK, here's the dealio:

New Dell OptiPlex GX270T workstation, 2.4C Pentium 4, HT enabled. Shows properly within Task Manger as 2 CPUs. 512MB DDR400, Windows 2000 SP4, McAfee Small Business 7.0 via ePolicy Orchestrator (very sweet setup), nothing else running.

Fire up SETI Driver and CLI 3.03 from a single folder, checked off the "Set CPU Affinity" box, set processes to "2". Runs great as long as SETI Driver is NOT minimized. Guess I should mention that as soon as I double-click either the SETI Driver program directly, or via shortcuts, it seems to "crash" and reboot Explorer, causing Explorer to reload all system-tray icons (my dameware, A/V software, sound icon, etc.) and attempting to minimize SETI Driver causes it to disappear to never never land. Checking Task Manager shows that SETI Driver is indeed still running, as are the two CLI processes, each getting 50% and their own virutal CPU (each virtual CPu shows @ 100% in the graph portions).

What the heck is causing this????

I THINK it has been working properly... going to go check and see if the SETILog.csv file has been working properly. In the meantime... has anyone else had this problem?

As I was typing the original post, I DID have SETI Driver visible on the
desktop (the large config screen). Now, as I went back to my wonderful DameWare
window... it's gone! Again! Checking the Task Manager I see that SETI Driver is
indeed present, and the two CLI processes are still running as they should be.

GRRRRRRRR.

I checked the SETILog.csv (at least that is working!), and I've completed 9 WUs
since late yesterday afternoon - a very respectable figure. At least it is
indeed completing WUs and submitting them to my SETIQueue, something I've
verified from my SETIQueue just now as well.

However, it still doesn't explain why SETI Driver is crapping out Explorer.
I've tried it with the "Set CPU Affinity" box unchecked... same deal.

I await your replies... basically sorting this **** out will discern whether or
not I'll ever buy a HT Pentium 4 box. I'm really not impressed.

Oh, and as for OS questions... it's a stock OS installed by Dell and updated by
myself, same as the rest of my boxes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just set up an IDENTICAL machine to this one (the second HT box I mentioned in my other post), running SETI Driver with 2 processes of the 3.03 CLI, "Set Processor Affinity" enabled, and it works FINE! GRRR!

I just rebooted the "bad" one... and if that fails, going to delete and re-run S@H on it from scratch, see if that fixes things.

If anyone can figure out why it's doing this, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!

Thanks everyone,

Logan

Uhm, disregard? I rebooted it for the Nth time and it's now fine. The SETI Driver icon shows as it should (finally) and it minimizes fine, with each virtual CPU being utilized as it should be.

*scratches head*

Oh well... at least I'm up and running!

I couldn't have been much help anyway because I don't use SetiDriver. Never could get used to the interface.:(

Glad you got it sorted, though!:)
