AndreRIO 07-21-2001, 09:02 PM me? once a year. my system: amd athlon 1.3ghz 200mhz bus NDC 07-21-2001, 09:10 PM Yeah, same here. I like to get rid of my computer goodies before thet become obsolete. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif alondra 07-21-2001, 11:44 PM as soon as I get my tax refund will upgrade to a 486. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif hawkeye177 07-21-2001, 11:46 PM Never upgraded my stuff. I will do it when the stuff get dirt cheap. F4_Hunter 07-21-2001, 11:56 PM Once a year in the summer mostly. Even If I really don't need to upgrade I still do just because I can! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif. flea 07-22-2001, 12:14 AM rarely. I still have some original components from my fist pc, a p2-266. Ive only upgraded the processor once, to a k6-400 at the start of this year. Im a cheapskate http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by flea (edited 07-22-2001).] Ed_S 07-22-2001, 01:21 AM Either when something fails, or when it reaches the point that new software renders it noticeably slower. Currently running a K6/2-500, and see no need whatsoever to change. ....unless reason #3 occurs, a wild urge for more!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif RamonGTP 07-22-2001, 01:22 AM I rarly upgrade the processor, I regularly upgrade other stuff if I need it like memory, hard drive, etc etc. My first computer was a 486DX 33, I had that for quite some time and made a pretty huge leap to a Pentium 200 MMX with 32MB of ram and a 2MB video card. I payed $2500 for it, and that was without the monitor, it was the fastest processor available at that time. I had that until reciently, now I have a Athlon 1.33Ghz 512MB ram, GeForce2, and I paied about $1200 for this setup and that INCLUDES a $400 monitor. I'm sure i'll have this processor for quite some time as well. -Ramon skywalker[TSG] 07-22-2001, 01:42 AM never i just get a new comp instead nodnerb2 07-22-2001, 05:19 AM Only when the system I am using can't do what I want it to do or it stops altogether. Late last year I upgraded from my first PC, A Compaq 4180 Presario to a custom made machine because I wanted to have 10x the HD Capacity ( 2x 20 Gb)and faster speed. It was the most economical way to get what I wanted. All this was acheived for the extortionate price of £1200.00 (Approx USD1700) Nodnerb JohnC 07-22-2001, 07:32 AM I upgrade when things get too slow. I run some heavy graphics apps (3D-Modeling programs) that really push computers to their limit. For this stuff you need plenty of speed and disk space. Richard_Cranium72 07-22-2001, 07:36 AM I never upgrade components, just build a new system and move the old one. Parts are too expensive just to throw away. Lots of people can use a 200mhz machine because all they do is Surf or do text stuff. One old Tower machine I have is a Pentium 100 o/c to a 120 It is suprisingly fast, works faster than a Compaq or HP of double the CPU speed that are loaded with lots of TSR's SysOpt.com
