I am looking to put together a computer for my dad and a friend of mine. I want to buy as much of the components from one web site as i can for the best price. I have seen some good prices at newegg.com but i am not sure how they rate with service. Am i going to get a good response if i have to send something back? I would like to hear any opinions about buying online. Thank you for any advice.

Newegg is good, I've bought from them a few times, never had to return anything! Their shipping is fast!

It is handy to buy from one site. However to get the most for your money it pays to shop around and buy from different venders.

I got the bulk of my stuff from www.mwave.com (http://www.mwave.com)
prices were competitive, and shipping was prompt. I haven't had to return anything,so I don't know about that aspect of it though. But I guess that would be a good thing

I've used newegg.com and everything went fine. I've had very good luck in general with online purchases. I've used maybe 15 different places and would buy again from all of them. I usually shop for price and shipping cost with pricewatch.com I've returned numerous items that were defective and always got credit or a new part with very little trouble.

I have bought from the following sites recently:
www.newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com) great prices and shipping (hadn't returned anything) www.mwave.com (http://www.mwave.com) fair prices and shipping and returns www.accessmicro.com (http://www.accessmicro.com) good prices and shipping and returns www.axiontech.com (http://www.axiontech.com) good prices and shipping www.buy.com (http://www.buy.com) great prices on deal items, inflated on others, great shipping rates and return policy, better for consumer electronics than comp parts, in my opinion
Of course, all of the above fluctuate on parts prices.. what is a deal at one may be inflated at another, and then it may change next week. Some also bump up shipping at times. I deal with the above because I feel comfortable with them, they are known names, and they left me satisfied with their previous transactions.

Thank you all for the help. I would really like to buy from one site and i have noticed only a few dollar difference between the different sites. I will let you all know how it goes. Thanks again for the respons.
Also check out http://www.tcwo.com and their $6.95 flat rate shipping. Don't expect next-day arrival, but they have good prices and good products.

I have bought from TCCOMPUTERS a zillion times with no problems. Their prices have always seemed good although once I found them I stopped shopping around. There delivery has always been prompt. Can't speak to service cuz I never returned anything.

hello,
i've bought from tc computers also and notice that it is extremely important for a first time builder to get the mobo the processor and the ram already installed which they do for free and of couse they check if it works and is compatible.the bios and jumpers congig is also made by them to get you up and running, just tweak it afterwards.
to start of with that makes your first build kind of more of a success (lesser things to srew up).
I bought a p3/intel 815epro/256mb ram already assembled and shipping was cheap cause it didn't weight so much.
other components should be bought lokal retail, shipping for monitor and drives are not so nice.
mine was a succes, good luck for you.
and keep on reading here.

watch out for excessive ship/handeling charges. I hate those outfits that want you to go all the way to "buy", before they list those charges, just wont deal with them.
