Here's what I'm running...

1.33Ghz Athlon T-Bird
512MB PC266 (2 256MB sticks)
2 7200rmp IMB hard drives
GeForce2 MX w/64MB ram
5 fans (power supply, 2 case fans, video card, processor)
All but 1 of my PCI slots are used
DVD-ROM
56x CD-ROM
Several USB devices

So my question, is 300watts enough to keep everything happy, or do I need some more juice? I've had the system for a little over a month and everything sofar seems to be running pretty stable under win2k. Oh, and I currently have an external CDR which is taking up way too much room, so i'll be getting a new internal one too which will of course draw a little more power as well.

Thanks,
-Ramon

300W PSU will do fine, as it now. In fact, I saw somewhere post about how much power every device needs, and with configuration similar to yours 300W is more then enought. More then this : I had similar config, and had only 250W PSU taken from junk of the lab.

Best Regards ...

Actually it may depend on who made the power supply. Some are better than others. I have read where some had problems that a new/larger psu fixed, and didn't have as much connected as you do. I believe it mostly concerns the 5 volt rail and how many amps it is good for. I have bought an Antec tower, with their 300 watt psu installed...when I compare the volt/amp specs between this 300 watt Antec to a 300 watt Enermax for instance, I see a better amperage rating, especially the 5 volt rail.

Output voltages of these switching supplies are in series. This means all of the voltages are connected together, and are reduced to the proper output for each and regulated. But, by being all connected together, when one output is overloaded somewhat, that also affects the other voltages.

I have not put mine together yet, so I cannot give any usage based on experience.
