I bought a NEC Multisync XM29 Plus (professional studo monitor) off of e-bay.... for the most part this thing works great. I do have a couple questions tho:

1. Does anyone know where I can get parts for this monitor such as the wired remote control and the IR remote control? .... Google didn't give me any results

2. I wonder if this unit has been dropped? The top and bottom of the screen has "pin-coushin" as opposed to the sides having it. There is no adjustment in the menu to fix it. Also, the top corners of the picture bow out slightly; have adjusted the trapazoid, pin-coushion and pin-corners to no avail. I know the fly-back is on it's way out.... hear the familiar zap every so often and it goes out of focus once every 20 - 30 hours and clears up after a power cycle.

Rat

The pincushioning on top and bottom is somewhat common on large CRTs. It is not adjustable on any unit I've seen. Basically, the tube is slightly defective. I see this all too often. That's why I always buy monitors locally.

Are you talking about a small click and a shake almost like selecting Degauss, just with a less violent shaking? I don't know exactly what causes it, but I know it was bad news with my old monitor. It used to do it maybe once or twice a week, slowly increased to a rate of several times a day. Finally it got to the point of doing it every 5 or so minutes, so I shut it down for the day. Then, as soon as the monitor fired up on reboot, it did it rapid fire, several times per second. That only lasted 2 or 3 seconds, not enough for me to turn it off. Crack. One last loud one, a little smoke (smelled like burnt hair), and thats all she wrote. Fortunately gateway replaced it with a much newer, nicer model.

Bill:
'NEC doesn't support this monitor anymore  ... they say I need to find the stuff used or maybe find someone who sold these units and see if they have any stock left :x

Magua:
It's definately a flyback zap..... haven't been using the monitor until the new flyback arrives (don't like sending 50,000 + volts thru the primary side)
