p3 800mhz
(brand new)40gig HD
512ram(133fsb)
(freshly installed) winxp home
32mb nvidia card
i just replaced the HD/ Loaded winXP/ and upgraded ram.
everything worked great for a few days, then out of the blue started these "system resources too low" popups.
ive tried (what i think to be) everything. i cant seem to find what would cause this problem. when i pull up "taskman",...nothings running.
???
any suggestions(or even a place to start) would be a great help
thanks

As far as I know, XP never gives that error. Is this a spam pop-up that says "Messenger" in the title bar?

Take a screenshot. Press ALT-Print Screen next time and paste in Paint. Save it as a JPEG image and attach it here.

Shouldn't you be using pc100 (100MHz fsb) memory with an old 800MHz cpu? I think that might be your problem. I could be wrong. Maybe one of the hardware guys can verify this for sure or not.

That ain't it. There were a few 133MHz P3s that used SDRAM.

OK, so I guess there was a few that were 133Mhz. Maybe this is one of the many that weren't.

ILL post a screenshot when it happens again,..and the ram is right. im pretty sure that mismatched ram would not register, error out or not even boot at all. in my experiences anyway.
thanks, it hasnt happen in a day or so...but i havent had time to mess with it this weekend either, ill let ya know.

I mismatched some 133 and 100 memory before and I had the OS boot and everything for about a day. Then one day out of the blue I got error message and ended up having to reinstall. It was pretty weird how it took almost 24 hours to have an impact.

recources are normally low, whe a lot of programs run and/or much windows are opened. In my case this only happens, when I have a lot Internet Sxplorer windows opened. There are a few things you can do:
1.) Maybe you have new autostart programs. Many programs make themselves automatically to autostart programs after installation. To prevent these programs to start when Windows starts, go to start -> run -> msconfig, and deselect these programs in the appropriate section of msconfig.
2.) Start the recource monitor (start -> run -> rsrcmtr). The program warns you, if you have less than 10% recources left. When this happens, close all programs (w/ Crtl+Alt+Del) and windows you dont need. The recource bar in the system tray should become at least yellow after this.
3.) If it is still red, make Explorer to restart itself: Press Crtl+Alt+Del, select Explorer and close the app. In the shutdown dialog box select cancel. After that you should have at least 50-80% free recources.

Those ideas won't work in XP, MrBurns. They are unique to Win9x.
