I have never had to look for new burning software, because my CD-RW drives always came with some. However, you can buy software that I know works well (NERO 5 and EasyCD Creator) from lots of places (like www.cdrecordingsoftware.com (http://www.cdrecordingsoftware.com) [I have never bought from them, but I know they exist]). If you need shareware, try www.programfiles.com (http://www.programfiles.com) and follow their links to "Media" and then "CD ROM Burning". They have several shareware burning tools, including a demo of NERO. Good Luck!

Here is a backup utility that recognizes your burner as a backup device:

If using Windows 2000, use the backup wizard, then burn the file it makes to a CD (or 2 or 3 depending on how big it gets)

Oh yes, you could split the file up using RAR

You can use Veritas Simple Backup (http://www.veritas.com/products/category/ProductDetail.jhtml?productId=simplebackup) . It'll get up to 1.2 GB on a cd, and it'll span over multiple disks. It's around 30 or 40 bucks i think. There's also Backup exec from them too, and it'll work on zip drives and tapes and such as well as cds.
