I am unable to use a 166*13 on my A7N8X Deluxe, PCB 2.0 bios 1005C with my barton 2500+.
is it that the mobo recognizes the cpu and prevent THIS overclock on the multiplier ?
I mean. It seems to be OK with a barton 3000+
where is my problem ?

Cpu's come either in the high range OR low range of multi-s designated by one of the L settings. So what you have is the same cpu as me with a LOW side of multi. All 2500's only go to 12.5x and lower. You CAN mod it to run any multi higher but its beyond ANY mobo's ability software wise (through bios) and takes old school multi unlocking kit to physically do it. Did that help?:t
P.s. I have this mobo too! Its a great board.;)

So having a NF7-S from Abit would not have helped ?
I m a bit confused as a friend told me he has risen his 2600+ with NF7-s to a 13 and higher multiplier with 166 FSB.
is it that the guy was wrong or the 2600+ has a high side multiplier ?

2600+ is on the high side. Yep. Why you need so high mutli? No the other mobo wouldn't have helped any. The best thing to do is use ddr400 and run 200fsb with 10x multi and go up till you reach max oclock. This will be stable as mem no clocked over spec and will result in higher mhz achievable.:t
