Hi..I got a actiontec call waiting that sounds when someone calls in when I am online. Sometimes when I play music I can't hear it when someone calls. Anyone got any ideas on how I can get the sound to go through my main speakers so I could hear it louder?

Where does the sound normally come from?

The sound usually comes from the tiny modem speaker on the card. Somehow I have a feeling that there must be a way. It just seems so simple, just need somekind of modification of wiring http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Welcome to post ideas.

Simple if the modem has a speaker jack. Simply run a short audio cable between the speaker jack on the modem and the line-in jack on your sound card.

depending on the kind of modem you have, it may have a set of pins on the card itself (not accessable from the outside) that will let you connect it to the sound card (as if it were a CD ROM or other internal device). If that works, you can adjust the volume in windows.

doubt there is any way to route the modem sound thru your sound card, short of puting a mike in the case but then you would hear the fans. do you have the modem sound vol. all the way up. ( I wont have a modem with out the speaker)
