I'm buying a retail 1.2Ghz Thunderbird. Is the included heatsink good enough? Will AMD replace under the 3-year warrany for heat damage using their heatsink?

Bsdboy 07-18-2001, 10:46 PM If you don't overclock it will be fine, and they will replace it under warranty.AMD ships it that way so they must think it is adequate. Bsdboy hallam2003 07-19-2001, 04:11 PM keep in mind, AMD says their processor will run fine under 70C, so that probably waht they keep in mind when adding HS. I have a 1.0 and when i first pu it one it would run at about 40C idle, and stay around 50C at full load, then it kept getting hotter and hotter, it runs at about 55C at idle now, but still stays under 60C under full load. Hallam Szech 07-20-2001, 12:21 AM It's enough to keep the processor from crashing, but you will probably have temperatures higher than I would personally be comfortable with. If nothing else, make sure you have good thermal interface. SysOpt.com
