Does anyone know of anyway to increase speeds of downloading on a cable modem. I have done the registry tweak, but I was wondering if there was anything else one could do to increase speeds. THanks for all the help!

By the way...I am running Windows 2000 Professional.

Which registry tweaks did you do? I used some of the ones listed at regedit (http://www.regedit.com) . The hardware ended approach to getting better d/l speeds is of course to be using either an Intel or 3Com network card. You could also have the line tested on the modem side of the splitter (if a splitter is indeed being used). What you want is a high signal to noise ratio. Too much line noise will cause packet loss and make your modem operate improperly. Sometimes it will cause it to even overheat and kick you offline. Many times this is caused by a lazy RF tech who did the install. Either he doesn't run new line when he should, or he uses a really crappy splitter that causes all sorts of noise on the line.

I applied the cable modem patch (comes with its own installer) distributed by Quest @home and my internet is FLYING. I've tried adjusting DefaultRcvWindow to all sorts of values and this Quest @home patch does so much better. You don't need to have @home as your ISP to use it... they're just registry settings so it'll be okay.
