Just built my first machine and decided i would check out some benchmarks. The specs of the new comp are

2500xp
asus a7n8x deluxe
512 ram. corsair
9600 pro

now 2 questions. is a 3dmark03 score of 3275 ok for this system? i havent started overclocking yet

and also, even though the system is not overclocked is it normal to get a couple of artifacts when running 3dmark03? i havent seen any yet while gaming.

thanks in advance.

Check here (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=969629#post969629) for reference ;)

Artifacts happen to all of us :x :p

Score sounds about right. Also which test tdo the artifacts occur in? Running the pixel shader tests with AA enabled will produce white-dot artifacting naturally

to tell you the truth i dont really know what an artifact is. what i do know is when it gets further into the test and the fps start to slow down i have strange things happen. like i line will just shoot off of the end of a tree. It looks like someone was drawing the picture and then their hand slipped and ran a line of ink all the way across the screen. It only happens a time or two, but it is still annoying.

Thats probably just a synching problem, artifacting is usally white dots appearing, serious image tearing or corrupted textures

what can i do about a syncing problem???

Enable vsync in the display control panel, this will reduce your FPS and benchmark score drastically though, but it will allow you to determine what the problem is

If you are on about 3DMark2003 (trees)...landscape test ...then I think that you are hardly going to get a bad syncing problem. This test runs mostly at low FPS (down to 15-17 at some points on my 9700pro). You really shoulnd be getting any artifacting running at standard speeds.....unless the fan on the card or something has stopped working.
You will know when you get artifacting....u will think...oooo sh**.

so this isnt that big of a problem? can i start overclocking a bit, or should i just leave it alone?

Yup the only benchie where synching problems should become noticable is the wings of fury one, everythign else crawls along in comparison
