Sooo, I was just at Fry's the other day picking up some stuff and lo and behold, I happened to spy MDK and MDK 2 selling together in a Dual Jewel neato flip book for only $10.95. WOOHOO!!! At long last, I finally picked up the full MDK, the demo I started playing oh so long ago and couldn't come up with a full version until now! And to boot I got a copy of 2 as well. The deal was sweet.

So, now I have it installed...and it isn't working just right. The intro and settings and all that are fully intact and looking good, even with the Direct3D options showing up on the primary install straight from the disk. I enable all the graphical options and let 'er rip. HMMMMmmmm....everything is very blue. And the ceiling has no textures...its just a very boring grey...and the walls don't have any textures either, but the floor does, but all very blue. Very odd. I went back and fiddled with some more settings, even tried setting everything to low and off. Still no go. The test option works just fine everytime though. VERY strange. Kurt Hectic looks okay, he seems to be intact. But that's about the only thing that looks right! MWAAA, I want my beautiful colors and scenery, not blue and grey!

I didn't download or install any patches cause they all refer to that added Direct3D menu which is already there, and yes I am playing it with D3D enabled from the installation.

Any ideas? Here's my system.

You should consider trying that patch.
Just tried the demo+D3D patch (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/mdk/) on my GF3Ti200/1GHz T-Bird - looks great, I already forgot how beautiful and revolutionary first MDK was ...

Performance index of 1250, btw, when PPRO@200 is 100  :x :r :D

Okay, I will give that a shot, although that patch is for version 3 and the game says that it is version 3000.1 or somthing like that. Anyway, I actually went back and reinstalled the game for Win95 and tried running it under that executable...looks better...all the textures are in place, but I lose that true 3D feel from Direct 3D. Maybe this will help....

From the link I gave you, check how's the demo runs for you together with the D3D patch.

Yeah, so I ran the patch and it changed all the options but it worked!!! Thanks for the link. It's interesting how the patch isn't labeled correctly but maybe that was some kind of update for the original retail release and it just worked for the new dual jewel release. Oh well, the game looks great and I have forgotten how cool some of those levels are! Ahh the days of old...:D

Thanks ND!
