Hey Guys,!!

I was just wondering, I know that case fans come in different flavors: there are the 4 pin connection fans and the 3 pin ones!

But there's just one doubt that I have, are there different 3pin fans??

I'm asking this because I was looking at my mobo manual and it has 3 fan connectors on the motherboard, it has the cpu connection, the system and power.

The cpu fan has: pin #1: Control
pin #2: +12V
pin #3: SENSE

The system fan: same as cpu

The power fan: pin #1: Control
pin #2: +12V
pin #3: NC

What the heck is NC?
And how do I know if the 3 pin fans third pin is sense or NC.!!!????

I'M CONFUSED>!!!!

But I can just take any 3pin fan and connect it?
The difference is that one has a sensor to show speeds and the other doesn't???

Sure use any 3 pin fan but you won't have RPM monitoring

OK.. Let me see if I get this.! It doesn't matter what 3 pin fan I use right.!
When I connect the 3 pin fan to my system fan connector (the one with sensor) I get RPM reads but if I connect it to the one with NC it doesn't give me the reads.

So all 3 pin fans are equal????

Yes,but some very high power fans might use too much current for some mobo fan headers, but if you are using a more or less normal fan don't worry.

NC=No Contact, the system fan connector on your mobo doesn't have a sensor contact.
