And I've never met anyone who built a laptop from scratch. ASUS does make a motherboard that uses the Athlon 4 for laptops. NDD 07-17-2001, 03:30 PM Small correction, Sleep21 : for now, only mobile version of new Athlon 4 (Palomino) processor has been announced, yet, AMD plans full line of desktop Athlon 4s. Their server version, Athlon MP with few enhancements made specially for SMP, has already been announced. As for present mobos, well, it depends if desktop Athlon 4 will use 266 MHz FSB or even older 200 MHz. In the first case, only KT133A and newer will support it, with minor BIOS upgrade. And if it gonna be available @ 200 MHz FSB flavor, as current T-Birds, then even "older" mobos, like Asus A7V/Abit KT7 will support it, with BIOS upgrade, as well. Best Regards ... superraton01 07-18-2001, 07:19 PM but ive heard that palominos will have a lower Vcore, which current mobos may not be able to provide. this (i think not sure) goes with the forthcoming 13 nm technology from their factory in germany.
