Well, my brother wants to find a scanner that will do 4x6 and 3x5 35mm print photo scanning. It would be nice to find a decent resolution so that in the event that the scanner is used for purposes other than photos, it'll give a nice scan (like maybe negatives or something). It would be nice if the scanner could either autoload photos through or quick pass them since there a quite a large number of them to do.
Any recommendations?

There are flatbed scanners that have negative adapters and dedicated negative scanners that only scan negs (usually 35mm and APS) but at a much higher resolution eliminating the need for prints from your photo processor cutting costs, how will the images be used?-online or do you plan on printing them?-or???

Scanners for slides or negatives cost some serious cash, the cheaper ones don't really do great work,, OK work, not great.
At least the ones I've seen, anyway.
But a scanner for color photos is a easy one.
Remember resolltion.
200-300dpi for photos that you're NOT gonna blow up
>600 dpi for ones you plan to blow waaay up.
Forget the 10,000 dot per inch advertised resolutions, this is simply not needed for photo work.
A glossy color photo will have NO MORE than 300 dpi of information on it. I quote some site that knew their stuff http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Seriously, I've taken 2" Wallet Photos scanned at 300dpi and made Beautiful 8x10" Glossy's from them, many times. So it was NO fluke.
Places like Olan Mills Studios seem to stretch the photos so far that if you try to enlarge them, they get really grainy.
I guess that they do this on purpose.
Here's a link to a scanner I'd reccommend.

I've been looking and looking and I can't find a scanner that will autoload 4x6 prints . There are many that'll do negatives/positives, but none that seems able to do prints. Can anybod confirm if I'm right?

I have the first edition of this scanner.
It will "Auto-Load" if that's the term, by that I mean it will pull the picture in by motordrive.
Pretty neat outfit, mine was $799.00 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
