I have been running my 1.2 gig T/bird at 1.32GHz (110x12) for about 2/3 weeks. Just recently I have been getting all sorts of errors. "iexplorer" errors, things shutting down over and over. Screens not opening fast or delayed....
I am wondering if it has something to do with my power supply. Even though the PS is only about 2/3 months old, it's a 250w supply. Is the power supply just not enough to power the system?
MSI K7T Pro 2a

ATI Radeon 64mb DDR VIVO

WD 20gig 7200 rpm ATA100 HD
Sound Blaster Live (Value)

Sony 4x8x32x CDRW
3 1/2 floppy
3 Case fans

It's the only thing I can think of. I am back down to 1.2 and it runs fine, but at 1.32 it has just recently started acting funny. Even with the voltage to the CPU at 1.84 it still acted funny. Temp. got up to 41c one time, and that was the max it's got to.
Thanks,
Sweeper

BTW I have run scandisk and defragged the HD. I also ran virus scanner and it's clean.

Ok well...i hope this is correct but from what u have said the 250W power supply is no good if u are using a 1.2gig tbird in the first place. The recommended minimum power output from ur P/S (for a 1GIG!!) should be 300WATT+
another thing that i am concerned about is the temperature of the CPU(is that really 41 celcius??)
also programs may "hang" stop responding in other words if the cpu is staved of voltage or indeed wattage
When u said that u had 3 case fans are these fans actually coling down the processor? or providing m/board cooling aswell?? i am not sure that the 1.84 volts is high enough (assuming that is the only voltage and has not been increased by 1.84?)
example: the AMD k2-6 processors use 2.4 volts(or .7 i am not 100%)and it is recoomended that they are only overclocked by 0.1 VOLT to reduce the long term effects of overheating
any one else back me up here??

Yes, the max was 41c. The average temp is about 38c and at idle it's 27c. The Vantec Heatsink really keeps it cool. Also, the case fans: I have one in the front to pull air into the case, 2 in the back pulling the air through. One is located just behind the CPU and one is located above the PS. They run about 2500 rpm each. I can keep it at 1.2GHz with out any problems. Once I increase the Hz it starts acting funny. But initially it didn't. It worked fine for about 2 weeks or so. It's has just now started acting funny. I sorta figured it was the PS. I will pick one up tonight on my way home from work. As for the PS for AMD processors, I have heard so many different version on what you can use and what is recommended. This is why I asked.

Been there and seen that. Like a couple of others have stated, change out the PS to 300 watts. However the overheating problem is simular to what I had one time. That little square with the blue or red tape on the back of the processor heat sink may still be on. If it was removed then buy some more heat sink compound and put on the back of the heat sink to help cool down the processor. Be wary of buying heat sink compound from Radio Shack though, I asked the lady there for heat sink compound and she told me to go to a plumbing supply store. good luck

The heatsink never came with a pad. It has been checked and has thermal compound on it. I am not really concerned about the heat. I really didn't think 41c was to high. I did pick up a 300w AMD approved PSU. Pulled out the other power supply and to my surprise...it was 300 watts too. But 300w MAX. When I purchased the case I was told it was a 250w power supply in the case. GRRRRRRR. But I installed the new PSU, because it was a better unit and it seems to be running fine. 1.32MHz @ 38c. I also cleaned out all the dust hidden in corners etc.
Thanks again,
