I recently purchased an AMD 1.33ghz processor, a 256mb DDR chip, and a Chaintech mainboard that supports AMD processors up to 1.5ghz, and it supports DDR memory. The problem I have is that the computer wont boot at all, not even to the bios. I tried almost everything, rearranging the IDE cables in a million different way. An interesting thing I found out was that when i put the CPU on 115 volts, the mainboard would start BEEPING continuously, but when i put it on other voltage settings, the powersupply would work like usual, BUT NOTHING WORKS. I tried putting those same voltage levels, other than 115, on my older computer, and it worked fine. If I put it on any other voltage, it would do the exact same thing as the new PC would, NOTHING! Please help if you can.
Thanks

May want to check your RAM. Make sure it is seated properly. Make sure it works. Maybe try another stick of RAM. I believe a continuous beeping is a result of a RAM problem.

The continous beep (depending on the BIOS) is either memory or video! BUT, the mainboard could also be grounded/shorted-out on the case. Try removing the mainboard from the case, set it on something non-conductive (the box is good) and connect it to the PSU, with CPU, memory, and video card installed and see what happens. If it works, you'll need to install fiber, paper, or vinyl washers when you mount the board back in the case.

Yes the RAM bleeps if it is not fitted snuggly inside its slot especially on the newer mobo's (1997+) also if a PCI card or other peripheral is not seated properly the bleeping may also occur..but as for not loading bios GOOD LUCK SONNY!!

Do you mean you set the p\s voltage to 115v?That would be correct. Try booting with the bare essentials. mboard,p/s,ram, video card, and monitor.......forget the hdd right now.

Thanks guys, I got it work. I think it had something to do with mainboard touching the case, like Randy48 said. I tried it with the bare essentials on a box and it worked, so I put it carefully back in the case and it worked. Thanks guys.

Hi Altimum.
In the future, please do not multiple post on the same topic. Post once only in the most appropriate forum for the topic.
